The purpose of the Immersive Imagery Project is to create a resource for teachers of art and architectural history which includes high-resolution, zoomable images of important monuments, as well as immersive panoramic imagery of building sites and interiors. The primary focus is the Middle Ages, particularly France, although other areas and periods are represented. This site also serves as a complement to other resources, particularly the Mapping Gothic France project.

This site includes many pre-Gothic monuments, as well as areas of Gothic art which are not specifically part of the Mapping Gothic France project, such as stained glass. Another companion site, The Portal Project, includes a comprehensive treatment of French portal sculpture.

This project is the work of Chris Henige, Associate Professor of Art History, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
